2 Guys Grille

I’ve had the pleasure of eating at 2 Guys Grillein Morrisville, NC twice in the past two weeks. The first time I ever went to a 2 Guys Grille was in Wilmington, NC and I had no idea they were even in the triangle until I was scheduling a meeting with JV Cotterell of the Triangle Special Hockey Association and he suggested we meet for lunch. Much to my delight it was just as good as I remembered from the first time I went there. After JV and I finished our meeting I knew I had to go back with my camera!

So that’s exactly what I did. Myself and my co-worker Melissa went there last week for lunch and this time it was even better than the last. I, of course, have terrible luck and my microphone was going in and out through out the entire meal, so please ignore the crackling, hissing, humming, lack of sound, and any other strange noises through out the video. I could only get a small bit of a great interview with Steve, the owner, but definitely suggest talking with him next time you are there. Despite our technical difficulties Melissa and I still had a great lunch and a great time with Steve and his staff.

The thing I really like about 2 Guys Grille, besides the great food, is how involved they are in the community.  They do 3 different fundraisers a year, working with the UNC Children’s hospital and their own non-profit, Surfers Healing for Autism.

The great food and fun atmosphere is definitely a reason to go. They are most famous for their cheeseburger and Cheese steaks, I had their Chicken Philly the first time I went and it was delicious! They are kid friendly, a great place to watch the game, and have huge portions at a good price! Check on the video to see our experience and be sure to stop in!

Casa Margarita in MacGregor Village

Last week myself and my co-worker Melissa went to lunch at Casa Margarita in MacGregor Village Shopping Center. Casa Margarita in MacGregor Village is located off of Hwy 64 near the US 1 interchange. It’s easy to get to and there’s plenty of parking!

Casa Margarita is different because it’s a lot bigger than most Mexican restaurants in the area and even has an upstairs for over flow, private dining, etc. The restaurant was very clean (including the restrooms) and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Melissa and I were automatically drawn to our normal favorites, but wanted to try something new and different. We asked our waitress for her recommendations and she suggested to us the restaurants favorites Lunch Fajitas and the Lunch Chimichanga, so that’s what we went with! And we were glad we did, they were both great, and there was so much food as well!

Casa Margarita is open 7 days a week from 10am-11pm. You can call them at (919) 462-1420

Rey’s - Fine Dining with a French Quarter Flare

Located in Cary, NC off Buck Jones Road, Rey’s is one of those restaurants you must try! Doug and I went there yesterday to see the restaurant and also learn to cook a filet Pittsburgh style. I had a great time talking with Rey Arias, the owner, and Jerry St. Andrews, the Exectutive Chef. Rey’s has a great atmosphere and the food isn’t too bad either! :) With Valentine’s Day right around the corner this is a great place to take that special someone! You can learn more about Rey’s on their website

Rey’s is also running a great special on the weekends. You can choose an 8oz Filet Mignon or 12oz NY Strip for $29.95, a Broiled Salmon for $23.95, Bourbon Street Pork Chops for $20.95, or a French Quarter Chicken for $19.95. With your entree you get a choice of Soup or Salad and an accompaniment!

Check out my video to see the restaurant

Free Moe’s!

I recieved a press release last week from my friend Carolyn at Genesis Marketing Partners about a great deal going on at Moe’s. I know it’s not a local restaurant, but it is free food! Check out the info she sent me below.

Keeping an eye on your wallet and your waistline? Moe’s Southwest Grill of the Triangle invites you to get more, for free! Visit any of the 13 Moe’s locations throughout the Triangle on Thursday, January 15, and receive a free Joey Jr. burrito, made any way you like it. The Joey Jr. burrito includes the same ingredients guests love in the Joey Bag of Donuts: a choice of meat, fish or tofu, black or pinto beans, rice, pico de gallo, lettuce and shredded cheese wrapped in a warm tortilla; however, the Joey Jr. is perfectly portioned between a full-size burrito and a kid’s item.

In addition, the 10,000th guest will receive free Moe’s for a year. The promotion runs all day on January 15. It’s just one of the many ways the restaurant wants to thank the Triangle for being a Moe’s neighborhood!

The Joey Bag of Donuts is one of my favorite items at Moe’s anyway so I’m really excited about this. It will probably be busy though so be sure to go early and be prepared to wait in line.

Porter’s City Tavern

YouTube Preview ImagePorter’s City Tavern is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Raleigh. I started going there when I was a student at NC State. Porter’s is on Hillsborough across the street from campus so it was a convenient and good place to go! I have gone there for lunch and dinner and am never dissapointed. The wait staff is great, the food is amazing, and I have thoroughly enjoyed everything I have ever gotten there.

This past week we went there to celebrate my sisters graduation from NC State. Once again the food was great and the wait staff was extremely helpful. I attached a little video so you can see some of what we ordered.

I typically get their Salmon, but they changed it (which was a little dissapointing) so I went with the Pork Chops, which were really good. The Pork Chops come with their Blue Cheese Maccaroni, which is soo good! My sister traded out her side for the Maccaroni, which was definitely a wise choice! Check out the video and next time you’re near NC State’s campus try Porters!

San Carlo Italian Bistro

The other day I met some friends for lunch at San Carlo in the Falls Point Shopping Center. I had never heard of the restaurant let alone been to it when my friends suggested we go there. I was first to get there and was greeted by a lovely woman with the cutest accent who sat me at a table by the window.

My friends all arrived and it was time to decide what to have. I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted because everything on the menu sounded so good. I knew I wanted something with lots of vegetables, but not necessarily a salad. Their Veggie Calzone (stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, broccoli, mozzarella) and Ziti Rigati (ziti pasta with broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, roasted peppers, asparagus in olive oil sauce) quicly caught my eye. My friend Shae ended up getting the Veggie Calzone so I went wtih the Ziti Rigati, but changed my sauce to their marinara.

About 15 minutes later out came Franco, the owner and chef, with our food. I felt like I was back in Italy… Wow was it good and a lot too! As I said Shae got the calzone and Andy and Adam both decided on Stromboli and between the 4 of us I think we could have fed 8 people (except we were all really hungry :))

Everyone’s looked really good, and mine was delicious. The vegetables were so tasty and the sauce was really good. I can’t wait to go back to San Carlo!

Bogarts - Glenwood South

The other night, my friend and co-worker Courtney Smith hosted her annual Christmas Party. We all met at her boyfriends house for appetizers then all 17 of us headed downtown for dinner at Bogart’s. I had been to Bogart’s before but never for dinner so I was excited to try it.

We were pretty full from appetizer’s so JJ, Courtney, and myself all went for appetizer’s, sides, or salads, but it was still pretty good! Courtney got their Apple and Blue Cheese Salad with a side of Mac and Cheese! Both were “ugh soo good!” as Courtney would say. The Mac and Cheese side was huge, Court definitely suggests splitting it if you go! JJ and I split two appetizers. We ordered the Coconut Shrimp and the Calamari. The Coconut Shrimp came with a mango lime sauce, that I wasn’t crazy about alone, but on the shrimp was actually really good! The Calamari was pretty good, it had a sauce with it that I wasn’t crazy about though, I like my traditional marinera sauce. Overall we were pretty pleased with our meals, and might just have to go back again for a real meal! :) Bogart’s is located on Glenwood Avenue above High 5 and right behind the Red Room.

On a side note, even though we didn’t get entrees everyone who did seemed to really enjoy them and they looked great!

On a another side note, I’ve never been, but have heard their Sunday brunch is to die for!

Cafe Carolina

When I was at NC State I ate at the Cafe Carolina in Cameron Village once or twice. I remember liking it, but don’t remember being super impressed. This past week a woman with the JR Womans club of Raleigh suggested we meet at a Cafe Carolina for lunch and I was excited because I was curious to try it again.

WOW am I glad we did!! We ended up eating at the one in Chapel Hill (long story), but boy was it delicious. The atmosphere and decorations were as cute as I remembered, but the food this time definitely blew my socks off! I had hard time deciding what I wanted because everything looked so good! I, of course, went with a salad (I know Lauren is saying “go figure” right  now) but it was amazing!  I had their Turkey Berry salad (mixed greens, smoked turkey, havarti cheese, toasted almonds, diced fresh pears, cranberries, bacon, tomatoes, croutons, & sherry shallot vinaigrette dressing) YUMMY!!! It was soo good!

I can’t wait to go and try something else next time though! Plus they also have breakfast. I’m so glad I rediscovered Cafe Carolina and I suggest you all do as well. They have 4 locations here in the triangle then one in Greensboro and one in Charlotte.

Cloos’ Coney Island

I’m sad to say that for 4 years at NC State I never once ate at Cloos’ even though it was right there across the street. A couple weeks ago one of my friends, also a NCSU Alum, said we had to get food there before heading to the Thursday night football game…boy am I glad we did!

I’ve been told I’m way too healthy of an eater, but a girl’s gotta get her burger fix every so often and Cloos’ is definitely a great place to do that. The restaurant is just so darn cute too! It almost looks like an old 50’s diner with the bar you can sit at and them cooking right there in front of you. The best part though of course was the food. I very rarely eat french fries so when I do they better be good….and they were! I ordered a cheeseburger and french fries. We didn’t get to stay and enjoy the atmosphere because Shae and I were in a rush to get to the game so we got it to go and figured we could eat it while we were tailgating.

Well good ol, NC State Fair traffic along with game traffic was everywhere to be found  so as were parked on the off ramp trying to get onto Blue Ridge Rd we enjoyed our Cloos. The burger was so juicy and tasty and the french fries were just right.

I try not to eat burgers and french fries too much, but the next time I’m looking to fix my craving Cloos’s is where you will find me!
